  • Crisson Gold Mine – Many do not know that North Georgia was the site of the first major gold rush in the U.S. in Dahlonega in 1828. Try your hand at gold mining at Crisson Gold Mine, an actual open pit gold mine that was established in 1847. Instructors are on hand to help you find some gold! Fun for folks of all ages.
  • Visit Brasstown Bald – At 4,784 feet, Brasstown Bald is Georgia’s tallest mountain. Located near the towns of Helen and Blairsville, Brasstown Bald offers amazing views that reach all the way to downtown Atlanta. Visitors can hike to the summit or take the free tram to the top where you can visit the small museum and capture beautiful photos.
  • Georgia Racing Hall of Fame – Dawsonville, GA is the official “Birthplace of Stock Car Racing” and if you are a fan, you cannot miss the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. Experience the history from the beginning of stock car racing and its moonshining roots, right up to the celebration of 2020 NASCAR  Cup Champion, Chase Elliott!
  • Discover a Local Winery – With over 30 local wineries, North Georgia is the place to be for wine lovers. Plan a visit to the one of our local wineries or take a tour featuring visits to several wineries in one day. Enjoy lunch and be sure to take a bottle (or 3) home with you.
  • Mountain Railroad Tour – Visit the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway in Blue Ridge, GA! Offers guests a 4-hour train ride from Blue Ridge, traveling along the Toccoa River to McCaysville, GA. Explore the local shops, grab some lunch, and learn more about North Georgia on this fun tour.
  • Visit Anna Ruby Falls – Located inside Unicoi State Park in Helen, GA, Anna Ruby Falls is offers picnicking, a beach for swimming, and hiking trails. Hike the half mile paved path to the top to see the beautiful waterfall.  Amazing views and a great mountain experience.
  • Get Adventurous at a State Park – If you are looking for a thrill this summer, get out an explore one of our amazing state parks. Go ziplining at Unicoi or Amicalola Falls State Park, practice your archery skills, paddle a canoe, learn to fly fish, and so much more!
  • Go Tubing on the River – Appalachian Outfitters is the place to go when you want to get out on the Chestatee River in Dahlonega, GA, and enjoy a day of tubing! Cool off on a hot day with a refreshing cruise down the river at a leisurely pace. Great summer fun!
